A 55-year-old pedestrian is in intensive care tonight, after he was hit by an out-of-control ute, which eventually crashed through a fence at Warners Bay this morning.
The man was walking on the footpath along Hillsborough Road, near the McDonald’s outlet, when he was struck.
He was taken to John Hunter Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for shoulder and abdomen injuries.
No charges have been laid against the 56-year-old driver.
