MAN SWEPT ONTO ROCKS BY ROGUE WAVE

A man’s been taken to hospital with broken legs, after he fell onto rocks in Port Macquarie this morning. The 29-year-old was walking in a group below the Tacking Point lighthouse, when a rogue wave bowled him over, shortly after 10:30. Lifeguards, paramedics and SES volunteers rushed to the man’s aid… He was lifted back up the headland and into a waiting ambulance.

TWO INJURED IN HIGH-SPEED CAR ROLLOVER NEAR DRAKE

A 78-year-old woman remains in a serious but stable condition at the Lismore Base Hospital, after a high-speed rollover on the Bruxner Highway west of Drake yesterday afternoon. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the scene, as well as ambulance paramedics and SES crews, who worked to free the woman trapped in the wreckage. A second occupant in the vehicle, an 81-year-old man, was treated for minor injuries before being transported to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition. (NO AUDIO)

MUSICIANS TO HOST S.E.S BENEFIT CONCERT

Musicians throughout Ballina are putting their talent to good use – staging a charity concert to raise money for the town’s SES unit. Fossil Rock, Key Suspects and Glen Massey are among several acts performing. Organisers hope donations from the gig will help pay for vital equipment. “It’s about time we helped support them, because they’re the first ones we yell out to. Whenever there’s a disaster, you don’t call ghostbusters, you call SES” “We need the equipment to do the job, and if we’ve got the right equipment, we can do it a lot quicker and safer.” Cherry Street Sports Club hosts the concert on Sunday the 13th of November.
