PORT STEPHENS ROCK FISHERMAN RESCUED AFTER BREAKING LEG

A fisherman has been flown to hospital after he fell at Port Stephens, badly breaking his leg. The 25-year-old had only just arrived at One Mile Beach early this morning when he slipped on a rock shelf. Due to his location, he had to be winched to safety by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. He was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where he’s in a stable condition.

BODY FOUND AT SNAPPER POINT

Police divers have recovered a body at Snapper Point near Frazer Park, believed to be that of a missing rock fisherman. 22-year-old Jesse Howes, from San Remo on the Central Coast, was with two friends on Sunday morning, when he slipped and fell in the water. Just after 10:30 this morning, his body was found under a rock shelf. Mr Howes’ family has been informed and the body will be formally identified.

SEARCH CALLED OFF FOR MISSING ROCK FISHERMAN

Emergency services have called off the search for a rock fisherman, who was swept into the ocean at Snapper Point near Frazer Park yesterday. The 22-year-old from San Remo on the Central Coast was with two friends, when he slipped and fell into the water. Police and lifesavers continued to search from the rock platform today, but divers were again unable to enter the water due to dangerous conditions. The search will resume tomorrow morning.
