Mid Coast trio off to New Zealand with Australia futsal under 17s

Three Mid Coast futsal players will pull on an Australian jersey for the first time taking part in a two week tour of New Zealand.

Jackson Summers, Lachie Babington and Caitlin Horwood were chosen after impressing selectors at Nationals in April.

While it’s a slightly different sport to football, the trio say wearing the green and gold nonetheless gives them World Cup fever.

“Kind of feels like I’m a part of that but also not at the same time just proud to wear the colours is pretty cool,” Jackson said.

“Started playing when I was little and I was like I’ll never get there so this is really cool,” Caitlin said.

The teams head off next Thursday.
