NITTIES MOVES FROM WA TO QUEENSLAND AFTER PERTH PERFORMANCE

Hunter golfer James Nitties is keen to build on his momentum following his second place finish at the $1.7-million World Super Six event in Perth. He’s now preparing for the Queensland PGA tournament, which begins on Thursday. Nitties won the opening hole of the two-man matchplay final, but a handful of wayward tee shots saw him surrender the lead to Kiradech Aphibarnrat. The Thai golfer then made two straight birdies to claim the title on the fifth hole. “Starts it outside, makes it.”

YOUNG AMATEUR LEADS HUNTER CONTINGENT AT AUSTRALIAN OPEN

Amateur Dylan Perry is the best of the Hunter players at the Australian Open, thanks to a first round 68. James Nitties is two shots back at one-under. Jake Higginbottom started well, this shot helping him reach two-under after seven holes. Unfortunately he couldn’t maintain that momentum, as he carded an opening round 72. TIED WINNERS AT PORT PRO-AM

Canberra golfer Matt Millar and the Hunter’s James Nitties have shared the spoils of this year’s Port Macquarie Pro-Am. The pair finished seven under par. Matt Stieger came in third, two shots ahead of former South West Rocks golfer Dale Brandt-Richards. After equalling the course record of 63, Millar entered the final round with a four shot lead. But he blew it, when he bogied the 7th, 8th and 9th holes. Nitties, shooting two birdies to catch the leader. The Pro-Am circuit moves to South West Rocks tomorrow.
