PLAYERS EXPRESS EXCITEMENT ABOUT LONGER COMPETITION

Tamworth’s female cricketers say they need a longer competition, after the second five-week tournament wrapped up last week.

Organisers are planning a 12-week edition next summer, with all six local clubs hoping to be involved.

City United is one team sure to be back, with the players using it to keep active between football seasons.

“Over the five games we just all saw a lot of improvement in our games, so I think if it went a little bit longer, we’d be feeling a lot more confident and you get to know the people in your team a lot better.”

The new competition is expected to get underway in October.
