“MACHINE” GOING TO WORK

Tamworth boxer Brendan Saunders can move a step closer to a world title shot if he wins tonight’s IBO Oceania Lightweight bout.

“The Machine” takes on undefeated south coast fighter Nathan Wright for the vacant belt.

Saunders has been training in a home-made sauna in a bid to drop below the 61 kilogram weight limit while maintaining his strength.

The plan proved successful, with the north west boxer recording 59 kilos at last night’s weigh in, while Wright tipped the scales at 60.

The bout is at Sydney’s Club Punchbowl.
