WELSH CHAINSAW SCULPTOR CARVES FOR A CAUSE

Welsh chainsaw sculptor Adam Humphreys put his unusual talent to good use in Bicentennial Park today.

Carving an elephant out of a block of wood, is raising money for Batyr, a mental health organisation offering education programs in schools and universities.

The artist is known for his work around the world, he recently commissioned a piece for the Duchess of Cornwall.

“I’ve decided to have the trunk up, with a bit of movement, leaning forward because I sort of, I don’t want it to be a block of wood, I want it to go from the block of wood into a living sculpture and movement really helps that.”

Until it’s sold, the sculpture will be on display at Headspace.
