NAMBUCCA COUNCIL AVOIDS EPA ACTION

Nambucca Council has avoided legal action from the EPA after a million litres of untreated sewage flooded into the Nambucca State Forest in late September.

The spill occurred after a fault in a sewage rising main.

“We’ve satisfied our obligations by reporting it to the EPA, we’ve explained the situation to them and they’ve seen fit not to take any action against us.”

Council plans to upgrade monitoring systems to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
