CALEB EWAN CLAIMS THE MICK CHAPMAN MEMORIAL

He claimed silver in the under-23 road race at the world championships in September, but Sydney’s Caleb Ewan showed why he’s considered the future of Australian cycling today, taking out the Mick Chapman Memorial.
Ewan was joined by Aussie team mate Sam Spokes from Tamworth and the pair quickly established a lead.
During the 40 minute criterium, the likes of Wangi’s Chris Aitken joined them, but by the final lap, Ewan was the man to beat.
“They’re coming at him, Caleb Ewan takes it out. Woo hoo!”
“I probably went a bit too hard early on and I paid for it in the end. I just tried to sit there and make it look like I wasn’t hurting too much.”
