– There’s been a small earthquake centred on Cessnock in the Hunter Valley. Geoscience Australia says it measured about 3 on the Richter scale but no damage has been reported.
– The Australian Federal Police officer who was repeatedly stabbed by a terror suspect has undergone surgery in Melbourne. A Victoria Police officer who was also stabbed will have surgery today. They were meeting an 18-year-old terror suspect outside a Melbourne police station when he attacked them last night. The suspect was shot dead.
– Meanwhile, Barack Obama has praised Arab coalition nations for helping to fight the ISIL threat just hours after they combined with the U.S. to launch airstrikes on terror group targets, in Syria.
– And Canberra’s Floriade has lit up the nation’s capital overnight, with flower blooms in full bloom at the launch of night-fest.
