“WE THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD” WITNESSES TELL OF SURFERS BASHING

Tourists who saw a shocking bashing in Surfers Paradise, thought the victim was dead, after he was left lying on a road.

The 45-year-old man was allegedly punched in the face outside a hotel on Palm Avenue around 11 o’clock last night.

Police say he’d been arguing with another man inside Mantra Crown Towers before the attack.

“There were loads of people crowded around him and then they rang an ambulance, ambulance turned up, it took them ages to get him on the stretcher.”

“We thought he was dead.”

A 37-year-old Oxenford man has been charged with grevious bodily harm, and will face Southport Court tomorrow.
