SHIMMY MOB DONATES TO WOMEN’S AND CHILDREN’S REFUGE

Belly dancers have helped raised more than $6500 for the Tamworth Women and Children’s Refuge.

‘Bellylicious’ dancers took part in a rendition of a flash mob, called ‘shimmy mob’, earlier this year as part of a world-wide competition.

A trivia night and raffles were also held to raise extra funds.

“There was over 2000 dancers involved in shimmy mob worldwide and Tamworth was the top money maker we raised more than anyone else by a good couple of thousand.”

The refuge says the money will go toward starting a new children’s program.

“We’re looking at a program called four to six that’s specifically for children that have been impacted by domestic violence so some of that will go obviously towards that program and you know help resourcing to run that program.”
