Fundraising for injured Newcastle Knight Alex McKinnon is ramping up, ahead of this weekend’s Rise for Alex NRL round.
Today, Warners Bay Private Hospital revealed it’s raised almost $3,000.
“We’ve been selling cakes, dress up days, selling raffle tickets and today’s a charity lunch where the money will be added to what we’ve already raised.”
It comes ahead of tomorrow night’s Footy Show broadcast from Newcastle’s Entertainment Centre.
“It’s typical of everyone in this community, they’re having fundraisers at work, they’re organising things out of work, they know that every little bit counts.”
