COSTLY VISITOR KIOSKS CANNED

15 visitor information kiosks have been removed from public and private venues across Newcastle, three years after council fanfare about their installation.

A council spokesperson today said the touchscreen booths used outdated technology and became too costly, with businesses forking out $3,000 a year for them.

Newcastle Yacht Club says its kiosk wasn’t successful.
