A 43-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in Newcastle this afternoon.
Police established a crime scene on King Street, near Marketown, where the incident occurred.
Witnesses say the victim was attacked after intervening in an argument between a man and woman.
Police are still searching for a man they believe can assist with their inquiries.
