JOHN_CHURCH_SHORTLAND

What motivated you to run for the seat of Shortland?

I have lived in the electorate with my wife and three children for more than 12 years. I believe that Labor has taken this safe seat for granted for too long.

What do you think are the major issues in the electorate?

I want the best for my community and I am ready to fight for more local jobs, a reduction in cost of living pressures, direct action on protecting the local environment and stronger borders.

Do you think what happened with Kevin Baker in your neighboring electorate will hurt your chances?

No

Obviously it’s been a safe Labor seat since 1949, how do you rate your chances of winning?

My campaign team has been working on this election since October last year. We have listened to the community and responded with real solutions to get Australia back on track. We are the underdogs but feel we are closing the gap.

If elected what will be your first priority?

Scrapping the carbon tax. Supporting small business by cutting red and green tape. Funding Green Army projects.

What skills do you think you can bring to the job?

As a local I understand the day to day issues worrying families and small business. I am a good listener but I also have a track record of getting things done. I believe I can be a strong advocate and stand up for the electorate of Shortland.

What do you think is your biggest challenge in this election?

Labor’s lies

You have a good profile in the region, do you think this will help you get votes?

I would prefer people to support me for my passion and capability rather than my profile

Who will you be preferencing?
