SOME ACCESS GRANTED TO CAPARRA ROAD

There’s some relief for isolated residents along Caparra Road, north-west of Wingham, with four-wheel drive vehicles granted temporary access.

Around 50 people were cut off during last week’s flood event, which washed away the Granny Fahey and Goldsmith bridges.

Council engineers have assessed the site, and work will begin shortly on two temporary structures.

Work on the Granny Fahey bridge will begin first and it’s expected to be open by the 18th of March.

The SES will continue helicopter drops of supplies, until full access is restored.
