Meanwhile, Adam Melling has been wiped out of the Australian Open of Surfing in round five. Earlier in the day, he managed to pull off a win in round four against Brazil’s Luel Felipe and Rafael Teixeira in difficult conditions. “I reckon he knows he needs a 3.67 because it’s an insider wave, not a big one, but he’s picked it off, nailed the two turns” The Lennox Head Pro scoring a combined wave total of 11.20 – ahead of Felipe in second place with 9.97. BIGGER SUNSHINE CONFERENCE BACK IN 2017

First grade basketball resumes on the Far North Coast this weekend, when round one of the 2017 Sunshine Conference gets underway. This year’s regular season will span 12 weeks – up from 8 last year. A women’s league has also been established – its matches will act as curtain-raisers. “Women’s games will start at 4:30 on the Saturday evening, and men follow at 6:30.” “We want to be able to watch the women play, and we hope the women will want to watch some of the men’s games as well.” Runners-up Grafton host reigning premiers Byron Bay in the season opener this Saturday night.
