REVAMP TO IMPROVE MARINE RADIO COVERAGE

Urgent repairs will be carried out to Port Macquarie’s Marine Rescue radio facilities ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer for boaties.

The antenna system and mast at the Town Beach radio control room will be lowered tomorrow by specialist staff from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.

Radio room volunteers will relocate their operations to another training room while the work is undertaken.

The rescue group had been experiencing difficulty with radio coverage for some time.

The antenna is expected to be back in place by Friday.
