JASON BARBY WINS NORTH COAST GOLF OPEN

Coffs Harbour’s Jason Barby has taken out the weekend’s North Coast Open Golf Championship, finishing five shots ahead of runner up and last year’s winner, Shane Cutmore. Barby had rounds of 70 and 69 to claim his first north coast open win. Former open winner, Logan Toms, led the field by two shots going into yesterday’s final round, but had a horror round of 79 to finish in fifth place.

PREMIER LEAGUE FOOTBALL FINAL PUNISHMENTS HANDED DOWN

  The final penalties for players involved in a large all-in brawl that erupted during this year’s Premier League Football final are yet to be handed down. The fight started in the stands and ended up on the pitch, causing the match between Wallis Lake and Macleay Valley to be abandoned and replayed days later. Wallis Lake went on to win the Grand final, many questioning why players weren’t suspended in time. “The decisions have neither been fair or unfair, they’ve been what they are and they’ve been part of the process and while I can empathise with some of those comments if indeed they are correct the end result is that we’re moving forward the way that we are” – Football Mid North Coast chairman Mike Parsons.  Some players are expected to appeal the charges but the Wallis Lake side …

STATE LAWN BOWLS

Port City Bowling Club has missed out on a state lawn bowls title, going down to Belrose in this afternoon’s triples final on the Central Coast. Bryce Stewart, Callum Murray & Jack Lewis all held on for almost four hours of play, but lost 29 to 13. Tomorrow, Park Beach’s Cory Daley and Craig Donaldson will face Sydney team Harbord in the state pairs. While Tuncurry will verse western team Molong. (VISION ONLY – NO AUDIO)
