HUNDREDS RALLY AGAINST SEISMIC TESTING OFF NEWCASTLE

Hundreds have rallied today against impending seismic testing off the coast of Newcastle.

It comes as the exploration vessel set sail, with the controversial process due to start tomorrow.

Statement from Asset Energy:

“The small scale, short duration and low impact survey off the coast of Newcastle is being undertaken pursuant to an environment plan accepted by the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA), and provisions of the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act. The exploration of the PEP11 permit is important to potentially assist in producing natural gas for the east coast energy consumers and manufacturing industry.”
