BUSHFIRES EXPECTED TO FLARE UP THIS WEEK
New South Wales firefighters are preparing for another horror week of bushfires, with the mercury tipped to soar into the 40s in parts of the state by Tuesday.
Yesterday’s easing conditions gave firefighters a chance to do critical back-burning and containment work.
88 fires continue to burn across the state, with 48 uncontained.
A very high fire danger is in place today for the greater Hunter area, as well as the northern slopes and north-western regions.
Air quality in Coffs Harbour, Tamworth and Gunnedah also reached hazardous levels on Sunday evening, with conditions expected to worsen throughout the week.
