New Year’s Eve celebrations in Maitland could be without a midnight fireworks display.
Council is proposing the change, after last year’s event saw a significant decline in crowd numbers after nine o’clock, due to the reinstatement of an alcohol free zone.
Instead, council is recommending a bigger fireworks display be held at nine, as well as more family-friendly activities.
Council will vote on the changes on Tuesday.
