WOMAN STABBED IN ALLEGED GOLD COAST ALTERCATION

A 26-year-old man has been charged after a woman was injured by a sword in Southport overnight.

Police say that around 11:30pm, a man and woman were allegedly involved in an altercation at a home on High Street, when the woman was struck with a sword.

She was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with a leg injury, she’s in a serious but stable condition.

The man was arrested and charged with one count of wounding.

He’s scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on February 6.
