MAN HOSPITALISED AFTER HITTING HEAD ON CONCRETE IN ALLEGED ASSAULT
A 45-year-old man has undergone surgery at John Hunter Hospital, after allegedly being punched in the face and hitting his head on concrete in Newcastle yesterday evening.
Police say the man became involved in an altercation with another man, aged 43, outside a licensed premises on Wharf Road, just before 6:30pm.
The 45-year-old lost consciousness after he was allegedly punched in the face and hit his head on the concrete.
He was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where he underwent surgery and remains in a critical but stable condition.
The 43-year-old was arrested and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He will appear at Newcastle Local Court next month, and police are urging any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers.
