Tamworth Regional Council has been approached by Thomas Foods International, following yesterday’s announcement to move part of the Murray Bridge workload to the Tamworth site, after a fire destroyed the abattoir in South Australia earlier this week.
And with that increase workloads, comes the possibility of jobs.
“There’s strong potential for some of their existing jobs provided in South Australia to head north to New South Wales and it will be great to be able to assist the company,” Councillor Col Murray, Mayor of Tamworth Regional Council.
Council says it will help in any way possible, not only for future jobs but for those current 700 employees and local producer who rely on Thomas Foods.
