A man who suffered burns to half his body in a gas explosion just over the border remains in a critical but stable condition in the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
46 year old Brett King was investigating a gas leak at his Pumpenbil home, north-west of Murwillumbah early Saturday morning when he lit a cigarette.
It caused an explosion that also destroyed his home.
