WOMAN ALLEGEDLY THREATENS PASSENGERS ON A BUS WITH A SYRINGE

A woman has allegedly threatened passengers on a Tamworth bus with a broken bottle and syringe.

The incident took place at around 2pm yesterday, when the passengers on the bus confronted a 27-year-old woman over $3,500 worth of thefts from several stores in Tamworth yesterday.

A member of the public alerted police when she left the bus, and she was arrested shortly after on Denne Street in West Tamworth.

There were no reports of injuries.

The woman was charged with eight counts of shoplifting, and using an offensive weapon with intent, among a range of other offences.

The alleged stolen items have been recovered.
