WARNERS BAY TAKE OUT INAUGURAL STATE CUP

Warners Bay has won the first ever Women’s State Cup, beating Merewether in the final, which wrapped up a short time ago.

Warners Bay made it into the decider with a comprehensive win over Wallsend.

Laura Hall got the Red Devils on the board, before Sophie Stapleford equalised for the Panthers.

Both sides then scored from the spot, but Warners Bay finished in front 5-2.

In the other semi, Leticia Quinlan put Merewether in front.

And Sarah Skinner landed North Coast back on level terms.

But Merewether made the grand final thanks to a penalty off the last kick of the game.
