Thick smoke blanketed parts of Newcastle today, but despite appearances there was no cause for concern.
Fire and Rescue and RFS crews carried out a hazard reduction burn in bushland at George McGregor Park.
McCaffrey Drive was closed between Lookout Road and Elbrook Drive for most of the day.
Another burn is planned for Blackbutt Reserve on Wednesday
