MAITLAND CLING TO FINALS HOPES WITH WIN OVER ROOSTERS

Some big wins in the Hunter’s NPL this afternoon – Hamilton smashed Weston three-nil, while Maitland accounted for Lake Macquarie to keep its finals hopes alive.

It was old boys day at Macquarie Park, but Maitland looked the most inspired.

Both sides had plenty of chances on goal, the Roosters weren’t having any luck.

Chris Fayers pounced on a loose ball to line up Ryan Clarke, who made it two-nil for the visitors.

Roosters keeper Benn Kelly had an afternoon to forget – sent off for this tackle.

Cannon Ford almost made up for it – saving the penalty, only to fumble the ball.

After starting the season well, Lake Macquarie now sits in 7th position.
