INDIGENOUS AFFAIRS MINISTER VISITS TAMWORTH

Indigenous elders of Tamworth and Armidale were given the opportunity to voice their concerns to Barnaby Joyce and Shadow Minsiter for Indigenous Affairs, Nigel Scullion today.

They discussed community engagement programs such as Backtrack and the possibility of establishing a cultural precinct.

“I want to make sure I have a long and thorough engagement with the elders community and make sure my office is available If I’m given the incredible honour to represent the people of new england.”

“We’ve talked about how we should go about managing this relationship, who we should talk to, how it should happen and it’s fantastic to have a clear set of guidelines about how the future is going to roll out.”

The pair will spend the next two days on the road visiting other communities in the New England.
