While many same sex couples across the country tied the knot today, Tamworth couples have been a bit slower on the uptake.
Local celebrant Lyn Grace says while the interest is growing for futures weddings, many couples are opting to wait and enjoy their engagement.
“It’s been a lot quieter than any of us expected and I think it was simply that the couples now they know that they can get married, they want to plan their wedding the same as any couple would.”
Today was the first day same sex couples could marry, one month on from changes to the legislation being implemented.
“We needed the month wait for the notice of intended marry form, which is normal for any couple, to marry once they decide that they want to marry, they have to give the Government one month’s notice.”
