MAN ARMED WITH FIREARM ALLEGEDLY CONFRONTS GOLD COAST TOW TRUCK DRIVERS

Two tow truck drivers attempting to move an illegally parked vehicle have allegedly been confronted by a man brandishing a firearm on the Gold Coast.

Around 10pm last night, the two truck drivers, a 29-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, attended a unit complex on Varsity Parade in Varsity Lakes.

While attempting to remove an illegally parked vehicle, the tow truck operators were allegedly confronted by two men, one armed with a firearm, demanding they leave the vehicle alone.

The tow truck operators fled the scene, and police were notified.

When they arrived, police found two men allegedly attempting to remove a wheel clamp from the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered three replica firearms.

A 49-year-old man from Varsity Lakes has been charged over the incident, and is scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
