The Port Macquarie basketball community has raised more than $3700 to help player Macca Borger with medical costs.
A serious work accident left the 25-year-old blind in one eye and with limited vision in the other.
30 teams of all ages took part in a fundraising competition at the indoor stadium yesterday.
Team mates say that while his future as a player is in doubt, Macca hopes to continue coaching junior teams.
“It’s amazing. I was speaking to Macca on the phone yesterday and I told him of the support we’ve rallied up for this and he didn’t have words, he said Beau I don’t have any words to express how I feel, it’s really nice to see everyone getting amongst it.”
