CASEY HOLDS TOP SPOT GOING INTO SEMI FINALS

The top four players from both the open men and women’s matches are through to the semi finals of the Ballina New Year Open tennis tournament tomorrow.

Men’s number one seed, Oliver Casey, was still the man to beat at the end of day two.

“Oliver Casey’s sort of shown his class, he hasn’t really raised a sweat yet, but as they go through the rounds the matches start to get tougher and things get heated up a bit”

It was also a good day for Byron’s Louis Clark.

Meanwhile a few dark horses emerged.

“There were a few upsets yesterday particularly in the mens, we lost our fifth seed, he was taken out of the draw by stallwort Steve Gort as was predicted yesterday”

Meanwhile, Megan Smith, Tiana Windbuchlar, Komaki Ido and Elle Husrefovic, are through to the women’s semi finals, tomorrow.
