Shockwaves are being felt in the Grafton community, with the announcement one of its biggest employers is closing down.
The company which manages South Grafton abattoir, broke the news today that it plans to shut the plant on November 14.
Ramsey Group says operations will be transferred to the Northern Co-operative Meat Company at Casino.
It’s believed some of the 150 staff who are affected will be offered a transfer.
The move is being welcomed by the co-op which hopes it’ll bring a degree of stability to the business.
