HISTORIC TELEPHONES ON SHOW IN PORT MACQUARIE
Port Macquarie’s library took a step back in time today, as it looked at the evolution of the telephone.
A candle stick phone from the early 1900s, a morse code device and one of the earliest suitcase-sized ‘mobile’ phones on the market were part of the display.
“Modern technology you’ll see in the display a couple of old mobile phones. Not only do they weigh a tonne, but they were lucky to last a couple of hours before the batteries went flat and they cost thousands of dollars.”
The travelling exhibition will be on display at Coffs Harbour library tomorrow.
