A pilot had a lucky escape after his light aircraft crashed onto its roof in the state’s north-west this afternoon.
It’s believed the Byron Bay man, miss-judged powerlines while flying at Manilla, near Tamworth.
“He got lower and lower like the normal approach and then all of a sudden you know unfortunately his front wheel hit the powerline and the whole plane flipped over and hit the ground.”
The 54-year-old is believed to have sustained an ankle injury.
