And while it’s early days, Highway Patrol officers are praising motorists for a positive start to Operation Drink Drive, which began early this morning.
The state-wide initiative is targeting drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and will run until midnight on Sunday.
“This morning most road users are obeying the road rules and at this stage I’m pleased to report we haven’t arrested anyone for drink driving, however as we progress through to the weekend that’s likely to change,” Senior Sergeant Justin Cornes from Highway Patrol says.
The operation will see up to 100,000 drivers tested across New South Wales.
