Police are investigating after a man was seriously burned during an incident near Maitland this morning.
At around 3.30am emergency services attended a residence in Bolwarra Heights where they found a 32-year-old man with burns to 80 per cent of his body.
He was transported by rescue helicopter to Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment, where he is in a serious but stable condition.
Early inquiries suggest the man was doused with flammable liquid and set alight by a female intruder.
Police have been told the woman fled on foot following the incident.
