The Member for Page Janelle Saffin has turned the first sod to begin construction on a new health centre in Yamba.
The Labor politician paid tribute to the man who lobbied for years to get the project – health campaigner Jim Agnew.
“I thought if Jim can do it, as a citizen, a local citizen, not elected, then I had an obligation to take it on and go really hard – that’s what I did,” Ms Saffin said.
The $5.5 million Yamba Health centre should be open mid next year.
