A university scholarship has been created in honour of Tamworth man Glen Turner, who was fatally shot in Moree last year.
The Office of Environment and Heritage announced today it would be awarded to a student studying natural resource management at the University of Newcastle.
It will cover the successful candidate’s tuition fees for the duration of their course.
“Glen came from a poorer background from a wonderful family up at Telegraph Point uh and he had to come overcome all sorts of financial adversity to be the first person in his family to attend university.”
Mr Turner attended the University from 1982 to 1985.
Applications for the scholarship are now open.
