KEMPSEY ON FLOOD WATCH, BUT SES CONFIDENT

The flood threat is also easing in the Macleay Valley, with no significant rainfall recorded today.

Although plenty of water has come down from the upper catchment, the Macleay River is steady at five metres, well below the 6.8 level that caused major flooding in the town in 2009.

Kempsey SES volunteers have been monitoring the situation and keeping in regular contact with residents of isolated areas in the Upper Macleay.

A minor flood alert remains in place.
