TAMWORTH REGIONAL COUNCIL WILL WRITE TO NSW GOVERNMENT TO GAUGE INTEREST FOR NEW JAIL

Tamworth Regional Council is exploring the idea of a $300-million development, which would see a new jail and renewable energy centre built.
Last night councillors voted in favour of writing to the state government to see if it’s interested in the project.
Around 50 residents attended last night’s meeting – with many raising concerns about social impacts.
Many say Oxley Lane, near the airport, is the preferred site for the development, however council hasn’t decided on a location.
