CEMETERY SERVICES OVERHAULED

A growing preference for cremations over burials, has prompted Tweed Shire Council to overhaul services at its three main cemeteries.
It’s now offering more options for locals to store their loved-ones ashes, by opening up more space, in a variety of settings.
“Obviously we’ve got an aging population and a growing population, so we need to be able to respond to that going into the future and make sure we’re catered for.”
Council has also announced it will no longer be in charge of ordering plaques and lawn monuments for customers, they will instead deal directly with stonemasons.
