Yamba’s popular Green and Blue pools have been put on red alert due to dangerously high algae levels.
Clarence Valley Council has put up warning signs advising people not to swim in the pools due to health hazards associated with the blooms.
Council said it would continue to test and monitor algae levels, but doesn’t expect conditions to change over summer.
But if conditions do change and the pools are safe for swimming, council will update its website alert and adjust signage on site.
