Ballina Shire Council has accepted a tender from Peachy Constructions, for preliminary works for the new Wollongbar sports fields.
The 1.8-million-dollar contract is subject to finance and is expected to begin early next month.
It’s the first step in transforming the council owned land into a world class sporting mecca with three fields, tennis and netball courts and a club house.
Council will go to tender for the further works early next year.
