Lake Macquarie Council has pressed pause on plans for a six-storey apartment building at Toronto, voting to defer any work until a comprehensive review of its property portfolio is completed.
The council was looking to build the block on Bath Street, but met considerable community backlash.
Councillors also voted to consider reclassifying the site from operational to community land.
